Monique Fagan Legacy Project

December 1, 2018

Since we started Streetopia in 2015, our team has always been interested in finding a way to brighten up the alley that leads along Station Rd to Obs Station, next to the bridge – and now, thanks to the work of artist Monique Fagan, that strip is about to get some love as part of this year’s legacy art!

In Monique’s words the artwork will consist of: “3 x arches 2.5m wide by 2m high, installed at 1.5 m intervals. We work primarily with found and recycled materials, as a metaphor for reclaiming the value of abandoned and disposed of things people and qualities. There is an inherent environmental message in making flowers and trees from plastics. The work tells a cautionary tale about the value of the real thing. I’d like to install a series of flower-bedecked arches in the walkway at Station Rd bridge.”

(thanks to Monique for this sketch showing the concept – and keep a look out for this and our other legacy pieces)
